Very expected game when 13th ranked Panthers (3-10) were smashed by seventh ranked Sharks (8-5) in Sutherland 99-47 on Saturday. Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Panthers' 28. Sharks forced 25 Panthers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Panthers' players. The former international guard Lauren Nicholson (183-1993, college: St.Mary's, CA) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and guard Aliza Fabbro (172-2001) supported her with 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Sharks players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 8 rebounds by forward Megan Jefferson (190, college: Hawaii) did not help to save the game for Panthers. Kate Pozoglou (178-1998) added 2 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Panthers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. They share it with Illawarra H. and Inner WB. Sharks will meet at home Spireds (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panthers will play against Nationals (#10) in Canberra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
