Regular Season Round 14: Diamond VE - Sandringham S. 75-70
Date: May 27, 2023
Very predictable result when eighth ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (7-5) won against 13th ranked Sabres (5-8) in Greensborough 75-70 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American forward Allison Day (185, college: BGSU) notched 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Jennie Rintala (188-1990, college: S.Dakota St.) supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Diamond Valley Eagles players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds by forward Georgia Pineau (185-1997, college: Boston Coll.) did not help to save the game for Sabres. American guard Brittany Smart (177-1985, college: Cedarville) added 25 points for the guests. Diamond Valley Eagles moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Eltham W. and Ringwood H. Sabres lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with East Perth E.. Diamond Valley Eagles will meet Spectres (#11) in the next round where they are favorite. Sabres will play against Ballarat Rush (#18) in Wendouree and hope to secure a win.
