The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Wanneroo (10-2) in Joondalup on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by top-ranked Cougars (9-0) 85-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Wanneroo. Cougars made 21-of-21 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Danish swingman Sarah Mortensen (185-1997, college: Villanova) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Stephanie Gorman (183, college: San Diego) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Forward Teige Morrell replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Robbi Ryan (175-1997, college: Arizona St.) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Wanneroo. Wanneroo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cougars have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-0 record having 3 victories less than leader Wyndham D. Wanneroo at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Cougars are looking forward to face Giants (#11) in Kalgoorlie in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
