Regular Season Round 14: Eastern M. - S.Adelaide P. 44-84
Date: May 27, 2023
Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Panthers (7-4) outplayed 9th ranked Mavericks (1-10) in Mt. Barker 84-44 on Saturday. Panthers forced 25 Mavericks turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Mavericks' players. Forward Ashleigh Spencer (181-1992) notched 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and American forward Holly Forbes (178-1998, college: UT Martin) supported her with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Panthers players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Taylah Levy (165, college: CSU) did not help to save the game for Mavericks. American-Ugandan guard Jannon Otto (183-1997, college: UC Riverside) added 9 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panthers moved-up to third place, which they share with Logan T. and Geelong LS. Loser Mavericks keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Panthers will meet at home Bearcats (#4) in the next round. Mavericks will play against Eagles (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
