Regular Season Round 8: Sharks - Hawks 87-106
Date: May 27, 2023
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Sharks (4-6) were smashed by seventh ranked Hawks (5-6) in Southland 106-87 on Saturday. Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by the former international forward Jordan Ngatai (196-1993, college: BYU-Hawaii, agency: BIG) who scored that evening 27 points and the former international forward Hyrum Harris (198-1996, college: Umpqua CC) supported him with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 16 points, 5 rebounds and 16 assists by American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-1988, college: Bellarmine) did not help to save the game for Sharks. The former international forward Brayden Inger (203-1999) added 30 points for the hosts. Five Hawks and four Sharks players scored in double figures. Hawks moved-up to fifth place. Loser Sharks dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Hawks will meet higher ranked Rams (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sharks will play against the league's leader Nuggets (#1) and hope to secure a win.
