Regular Season Round 20: Goldfields G. - Perry Lakes H. 79-77

A very close game took place in Kalgoorlie between Giants and Hawks. Tenth ranked Giants (5-6) got a very close home victory over top-ranked Hawks (10-3). Giants managed to escape with a 2-point win 79-77 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Hawks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Dupree (185, college: Northwest) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and forward Kon Anguik (196-1996, college: Simpson, CA) who added 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Giants players scored in double figures. American forward Daniel Alexander (206-1991, college: GCU, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and guard Matthew Leary (190-2000, college: Knox) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Hawks' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Giants moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Cairns M. Loser Hawks still keep top position with three games lost. They share it with Hume City B. and Norths B.. Giants will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hawks will play against Wanneroo in Joondalup and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
