There was an upset when higher ranked Geelong Supercats (6-5) were defeated on the road by seventeenth ranked Bendigo Braves (5-7) 109-97 on Saturday. Bendigo Braves shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 61.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Bijan Johnson (183-1997, college: NM Military) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!) and 7 assists and guard Luke Rosendale (-2001) who added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Bendigo Braves' coach Stephen Black used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward George Blagojevic (203-1997, college: Hartford) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Gabe Hadley (193-1998) scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bendigo Braves moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Geelong Supercats dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
