Top ranked Eltham Wildcats (9-3) recorded its third loss in Ulverstone. Visitors were defeated by sixteenth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (5-7) 94-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Eltham Wildcats. NW Tasmania Thunder forced 19 Eltham Wildcats turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 19 on the offensive glass. American swingman Sekou Sylla (196, college: Towson) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. The other American import guard Vionte Daniels (188-1997, college: WSU) contributed with 27 points and 4 steals for the winners. NW Tasmania Thunder's coach Nick Haywood allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Owen Foxwell (187-2003) replied with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Joshua Sykes (203-1996, college: Fresno City) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Eltham Wildcats. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. NW Tasmania Thunder moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Eltham Wildcats at the other side still keep top position with three games lost. They share it with Willetton T. and Frankston B.. NW Tasmania Thunder will play against Ringwood Hawks (#17) in Heathmont in the next round where they are favorite. Eltham Wildcats will have a break next round.
