Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Hawks (7-5) were outscored by top-ranked Lady Braves (12-0) in Heathmont 88-49 on Sunday. Lady Braves dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hawks' 30. They outrebounded Hawks 55-31 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Amy Atwell (183-1998, college: Hawaii) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and Meg Mccarthy supported her with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Even 13 points by forward Piper Dunlop (187-2003) did not help to save the game for Hawks. Toni Farnworth added 8 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Hawks' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Lady Braves have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-0 record. Loser Hawks keep the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Diamond VE and Eltham W.. Lady Braves will meet at home Cavaliers (#19) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Hawks will play against Chargers (#12) in Hobart and hope to secure a win.
