Rather predictable result in Rockhampton where twelfth ranked Cairns Marlins (5-6) edged 16th ranked Rockets (1-8) 82-79 on Sunday. Cairns Marlins looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Lachlan Anderson (206-1997, college: EKU) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Tad Dufelmeier (183-1996, college: CUI) who added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Cairns Marlins' coach Kerry Williams used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized South Sudanese forward Chier Maker (203-1995, college: Idaho St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and New Zealand power forward Angus McWilliam (208-1999, college: UC Riverside, agency: Haylett Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Four Rockets players scored in double figures. Cairns Marlins moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Goldfields G. Loser Rockets keep the sixteenth position with eight games lost. Cairns Marlins will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rockets will play against the league's leader Thunder (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
