There was a surprise result in Melbourne where sixteenth ranked Thunder (4-10) won against higher ranked Rangers (7-8) 83-72 on Saturday. They outrebounded Rangers 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Thunder looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Rangers' players. The best player for the winners was Japanese center Kadysha Umezawa (190-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Japanese guard Ai Yamada (170-1995) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Four Thunder players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Nyadiew Puoch (189-2004) who recorded 32 points and American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-1990, college: Stanford) added 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Thunder maintains sixteenth place with 4-10 record, which they share with Kilsyth LC. Loser Rangers dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
