There was a surprise result in Darwin where eleventh ranked Flames (6-7) smashed second-best Salties (9-2) 86-59 on Saturday. Flames had a 38-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Stephanie Reid (168-1996, college: Buffalo) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Forward Alexandra Fowler (188-2001, college: Portland) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds. Four Flames players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Erin Bollmann (180-1994, college: SEMO) who recorded 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and center Skye Rees (190-1989, college: Arkansas) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames moved-up to fourth place, which they share with McKinnon C. and Canberra N. Loser Salties keep the second position with two games lost. Flames will meet at home Sunshine CP (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Salties will play against Seahawks (#10) in Runaway Bay and hope to secure a win.
