Everything went according to plan in Kalgoorlie where leader Cougars (10-0) beat 10th ranked Giants (3-9) 94-76 on Saturday. Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was center Jessie Edwards (193-1995, college: Minnesota) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Jewel Williams (168-2001) chipped in 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Cougars' coach Tyrone Thwaites used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Darcee Garbin (188-1994) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Kiriana Hawaikirangi added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Giants players scored in double figures. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Cougars. They maintain second place with 10-0 record having 4 victories less than leader Wyndham D. Loser Giants dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Hume City B.. Cougars will meet Senators (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Giants will play against Magic in Mandurah and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
