Regular Season Round 22: Mackay M. - Logan T. 83-96

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Thunder (12-1) defeated on the road 5th ranked Mackay Meteors (7-6) 96-83 on Saturday. Thunder outrebounded Mackay Meteors 41-28 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. South Sudanese forward Majok Deng (205-1993, college: ULM) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and guard Shaun Bruce (190-1991) supported him with 14 points and 13 assists. Even 22 points by guard Isaac White (188-1998, college: CBU) did not help to save the game for Mackay Meteors. American guard Tyler Williams (196-1996, college: San Diego) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Five Thunder and four Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Thunder have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-1 record. Loser Mackay Meteors keep the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with Kalamunda ES and Darwin S.. Thunder will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mackay Meteors will play against Ipswich Force (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
