Not a big story in a game in New Plymouth where 10th ranked Airs (2-8) were rolled over by fifth ranked Saints (6-5) 111-92. Saints outrebounded Airs 45-28 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Australian guard Kyle Adnam (186-1993) nailed 29 points and 7 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Taane Samuel (200-1999) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Kendrick Ray (188-1994, college: KSU) came up with 23 points and the other American import swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Airs in the defeat. Five Saints and four Airs players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Saints. They maintain fifth place with 6-5 record. Airs lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Saints will play against higher ranked Nuggets (#3) in Dunedin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Airs will play on the road against Sharks (#6) in Southland and hope to get back on the winning track.
