There was a minor upset in Mandurah where 11th ranked Giants (5-10) were defeated by fourteenth ranked Magic (2-13) 120-106 on Sunday. Magic made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Magic outrebounded Giants 48-37 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for power forward CJ Bobbitt (201-1997, college: Denver) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists. DeQuan Abrom (188-1996, college: Belm.Abbey) helped adding 24 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Five Magic players scored in double figures. Magic's coach Mark Utley used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Michael Dupree (185, college: Northwest) responded with 31 points and 4 assists and Lafonzo Smith (206, college: Benedict) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Magic maintains fourteenth place with 2-13 record. Giants lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Magic will meet at home higher ranked Senators (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play against Lightning and hope to secure a win.
