Very expected game in Brisbane where 15th ranked Roar (2-11) was defeated by ninth ranked South West Metro Pirates (8-6) 91-78 on Sunday. South West Metro Pirates dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Roar's 38. South West Metro Pirates forced 21 Roar turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American Jeremy McLaughlin (203-1995, college: Catawba) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Roman Siulepa (196-2006) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Jaylen Key (203-1997, college: New Orleans, agency: One Motive Sports) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Nelson Larkins (180-1996) scored 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. South West Metro Pirates moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Roar lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. South West Metro Pirates will meet at home Northside Wizards (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Roar will play against Cairns Marlins (#9) and hope to secure a win.
