Very predictable result when thirteenth ranked Tornadoes (6-10) won against 18th ranked Ballarat Miners (3-13) in Wendouree 82-73 on Saturday. Strangely Ballarat Miners outrebounded Tornadoes 41-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Guard Olivia West (168, college: UC Riverside) nailed 26 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side and forward Macey Crawford (178-2005) accounted for 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Tornadoes players scored in double figures. Swedish forward Emma Karamovic (184-1996, college: Southeastern) came up with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Abigail Wehrung (177-1995) added 19 points and 6 assists respectively for Ballarat Miners in the defeat. Tornadoes maintains thirteenth place with 6-10 record, which they share with Kilsyth LC and Hobart C. Loser Ballarat Miners keep the eighteenth position with 13 games lost. Tornadoes will meet at home higher ranked Spectres (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
