Regular Season Round 11: Saints - Airs 97-91

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Saints (7-6) won against 9th ranked Airs (4-9) in Wellington 97-91 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Saints made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Taane Samuel (200-1999) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Thomas Vodanovich (201-1994, college: JMU) accounted for 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. The former international power forward Anzac Rissetto (208-2001, college: Charlotte) came up with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American Armon Fletcher (196-1995, college: SIU) added 22 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Airs in the defeat. Five Saints and four Airs players scored in double figures. Airs' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Saints maintains fifth place with 7-6 record. Airs at the other side keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Jets. Saints will meet bottom-ranked Jets (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Airs will play against Sharks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
