Rather expected game in Pukekohe where 5th ranked Saints (7-8) were defeated by second ranked Bulls (10-4) 100-89 on Friday. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Daniel Fotu (203-1999, college: SMC) who scored 31 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). American guard Rickey McGill (188-1997, college: Iona) chipped in 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Taane Samuel (200-1999) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Izayah Mauriohooho-Leafa (188-1996, college: Sacramento St.) added 21 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bulls maintains second position with 10-4 record behind leader Tuatara. Loser Saints keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Bulls will meet Nuggets (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Saints will play against Hawks in Tamatea and hope to secure a win.
