Regular Season Round 18: Darwin S. - Northside W. 90-79

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Wizards (13-2) in Darwin on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Salties (11-4) 90-79. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. 24 personal fouls committed by Wizards helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Chelsea Brook (188-1998) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Ruby Porter (178-2001, college: Nebraska) chipped in 23 points and 4 steals during the contest. Five Salties players scored in double figures. Salties' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and power forward Nadeen Payne (188-1993, agency: LBM Management) scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Salties moved-up to second place, which they share with Logan T. and Sydney C. Wizards at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Bulleen B. and Joondalup W.. Salties is looking forward to face Thunder (#3) in Loganholme in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Wizards will play at home against Brisbane Spartans and are hoping to win this game.
