There was an upset in New Plymouth where higher ranked Sharks (5-10) were defeated by tenth ranked Airs (5-9) 94-90 on Sunday. Airs looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American Armon Fletcher (196-1995, college: SIU) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import guard Kendrick Ray (188-1994, college: KSU) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Five Airs players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-1988, college: Bellarmine) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 assists and Australian forward Grant Anticevich (206-1999, college: California) added 7 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Airs moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Jets and Giants. Sharks lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Hawks. Airs will meet at home league's leader Tuatara in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sharks will play against the league's second-placed Bulls (#2) and hope to secure a win.
