No shocking result in a game in Runaway Bay where sixth ranked Brisbane Spartans (10-5) won against 8th ranked Seahawks (8-6) 87-74 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Swedish forward Elin Gustavsson (190-1993, college: Colorado St.) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Jessica McDowell-White (168-2000, college: USF) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Alexa Held (178-1999, college: DePaul) who recorded 28 points and 5 assists and her fellow American import power forward Erin Riley (180, college: Keiser) added 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Brisbane Spartans have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Rockhampton C. and Sherbrooke S. Loser Seahawks dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with N.Adelaide R. and S.Adelaide P.. Brisbane Spartans will meet league's leader Wizards in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Seahawks will play against Rollers in Gold Coast and hope to secure a win.
