Regular Season Round 19: Geelong LS - Melbourne T. 84-56

There was no surprise when 17th ranked Tigers (4-15) were crushed on the road by fifth ranked Geelong Supercats (13-5) 84-56 on Friday. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers' 28. Geelong Supercats forced 23 Tigers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for center Ella Tofaeono (190, college: Texas Tech) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Sarah Elsworthy (171-1998) helped adding 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Samantha Simons (188-2000, college: SMC) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and Lily Carmody (-2005) scored 10 points. Tigers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Geelong Supercats. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Mt Gambier. Tigers lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with 15 games lost. Geelong Supercats will meet at home Ballarat Miners (#19) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Tigers will play against Cavaliers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
