There was a surprise result in Melbourne where sixteenth ranked Thunder (5-13) edged higher ranked Spectres (8-11) 71-69 on Saturday. Thunder made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for guard Lana Hollingsworth (178, college: Santa Clara) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Anna Clephane (178, college: Ball St.) helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). At the losing side the former international guard Rachel Antoniadou (175-1996, college: FSU) responded with 25 points and Emma Pearce produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Thunder moved-up to tenth place, which they share with East Perth E. and Illawarra H. Loser Spectres keep the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Kilsyth LC and Launceston T.. Thunder will meet Chargers (#15) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Spectres will play against Frankston Blues and hope to secure a win.
