Regular Season Round 29: Sydney C. - Albury W.B. 74-86
Date: July 2, 2023
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Alexandria where 10th ranked Sydney City Comets (8-10) were defeated by eleventh ranked Bandits (9-10) 86-74 on Sunday. Bandits made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Bandits outrebounded Sydney City Comets 56-43 including a 41-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jamir Coleman (204-1997, college: CCSU, agency: Haylett Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Mike Parks Jr (206-1997, college: Memphis, agency: Haylett Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Parks Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Matthew Wacher (180-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Wani Swaka (198-2001) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Bandits and four Sydney City Comets players scored in double figures. Sydney City Comets' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Bandits moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Sydney City Comets dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Bendigo B. and Kalamunda ES. Bandits will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sydney City Comets will play against Bankstown Bruins (#12) in Condell Park and hope to secure a win.
