Regular Season Round 20: Southern T. - S.Adelaide P. 87-58
Date: July 6, 2023
There was no surprise in Morphett Vale where 6th ranked Panthers (9-8) were crushed by third ranked Tigers (12-5) 87-58 on Thursday. Tigers made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Tigers outrebounded Panthers 53-31 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tigers made 12 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Morgan Yaeger (175-1998, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Brittany Hernandez (185-1993, college: UCCS) who added 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. American forward Holly Forbes (178-1998, college: UT Martin) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and forward Ashleigh Spencer (181-1992) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers moved-up to second place, which they share with SD Spartans. Loser Panthers dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with N.Adelaide R. and NGC Seahawks. Tigers will meet at home Bearcats (#4) in the next round. Panthers will play against Warriors and hope to secure a win.
