There was no surprise in Cairns where 9th ranked Dolphins (9-9) were crushed by first ranked Wizards (15-3) 110-72 on Friday. Wizards dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Dolphins' 40. They outrebounded Dolphins 57-31 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Wizards looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Dolphins' players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Nadeen Payne (188-1993, agency: LBM Management) who added 20 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. American guard Jennifer Coleman (175-1998, college: Navy) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and forward Shaneice Swain (175-2003) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Wizards and four Dolphins players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wizards maintains first position with 15-3 record, which they share with Joondalup W. Dolphins lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Canberra N. and Townsville F.. Wizards will meet at home Capitals (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dolphins will play against Rip City and hope to secure a win.
