Regular Season Round 14: Bulls - Airs 93-87
Date: July 8, 2023
Very expected game when 8th ranked Airs (5-10) lost to second ranked Bulls (11-5) in Pukekohe 87-93 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international forward Daniel Fotu (203-1999, college: SMC) notched 22 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Jamaal Brantley (198-1993, college: Cameron) supported him with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Brantley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) did not help to save the game for Airs. His fellow American import guard Kendrick Ray (188-1994, college: KSU) added 22 points and 4 assists for the guests. Four Bulls and five Airs players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Bulls went down to third position due to points difference. Loser Airs keep the eighth place with ten games lost. Bulls will meet Rams (#4) in the next round. Airs will play against the league's second-placed Nuggets (#2) in Dunedin and hope to secure a win.
