Regular Season Round 33: Townsville H. - USC Rip 87-112
Date: July 14, 2023
Very expected game in Hermit Park where 14th ranked Townsville Heat (5-14) was crushed by fourth ranked Rip City (10-9) 112-87 on Friday. Rip City had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Brandon Wood (188-1989, college: Michigan St., agency: Interperformances) who scored 30 points. Forward Corey Shervill (201-1998, college: St.Edward's) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Rip City players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Matthew Rees (205-1987) who recorded 22 points and 4 assists and swingman Richard Peachey (201-2003, college: Umpqua CC) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rip City. Despite that victory Rip City went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Townsville Heat dropped to the eighth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Blackburn V.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
