Regular Season Round 33: SW Slammers - Cockburn C. 104-81
Date: July 14, 2023
There was a small surprise in Bunbury where thirteenth ranked Slammers (4-17) outleveled 10th ranked Cougars (7-12) 104-81 on Friday. Slammers forced 28 Cougars turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Buay Tuach (198-1995, college: LMU, agency: Haylett Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Canadian forward Ben Stevens (206-1999, college: Laurier) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Slammers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Courtney Alexander (203-1997, college: Tenn Tech) who recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Taj Benning (193-1998, college: Fairfield) added 20 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slammers maintains thirteenth place with 4-17 record, which they share with Bankstown B. and Manly Warr. Cougars lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Brisbane C. and NGC Seahawks. Slammers will meet at home higher ranked Tigers (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cougars will play against Suns (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
