There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Spectres (9-13) beat higher ranked Hawks (13-9) in East Burwood 86-82 on Saturday. Spectres made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Spectres had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international swingman Alice Kunek (185-1991, agency: LBM Management) nailed 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and guard Rachel Brewster (180-1997, college: Utah St.) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Spectres' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and Spanish guard Marta Hermida (180-1997, college: Boise St.) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Hawks in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Spectres moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Launceston T. Loser Hawks keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
