Regular Season Round 33: Kalamunda ES - East Perth E. 48-98
Date: July 15, 2023
There was a small surprise in Kalamunda where twelfth ranked Eagles (7-14) outleveled 9th ranked Suns (8-13) 98-48 on Saturday. Eagles held Suns to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Suns 66-31 including a 45-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Eagles looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Suns' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Eagles made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was power forward Sebit Reath (208-1998, college: Lee JC) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 22 rebounds. American center Lukas Milner (208-2000, college: Boise St., agency: One Motive Sports) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Eagles players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was New Zealand guard Joe Cook-Green (185-1997, college: TxWes) who recorded 16 points and 4 assists and forward Tom Atkinson (198-1998) added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Eagles. They maintain twelfth place with 7-14 record. Suns lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Keilor T.. Eagles will meet at home league's second-placed Buccaneers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Suns will play against Cougars (#10) in Hamilton Hill and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
