Regular Season Round 21: Ipswich F. - SC Phoenix 83-96

There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Sunshine CP (6-13) won against 12th ranked Force (6-12) in Booval 96-83 on Saturday. Sunshine CP looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international Kathleen Macleod (167-1986) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side and Maltese swingman Nicola Handreck (175-1995) accounted for 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American guard Alison Gorrell (178-1993, college: FAU) came up with 34 points (!!!) and 8 assists and the other American import power forward Maria Blazejewski (185-1991, college: LSSU) added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Force in the defeat. Five Sunshine CP and four Force players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sunshine CP. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Sunbury J. Loser Force dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Pakenham W.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
