Very expected game when 14th ranked Panthers (4-16) were smashed by third ranked North Bears (16-4) in Penrith 91-50 on Saturday. North Bears dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Panthers' 24. North Bears forced 21 Panthers turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Panthers' players. Swingman Emily Simons (178-1994, college: Pacific) nailed 47 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Jolene Anderson (173-1986, college: Wisconsin) accounted for 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. North Bears' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Megan Jefferson (190, college: Hawaii) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and forward Chloe Williams (190-2005, college: Tulsa) added 11 points respectively for Panthers in the defeat. North Bears maintains third place with 16-4 record having six points less than leader Wyndham D. Panthers lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. North Bears will meet at home Comets (#7) in the next round. Panthers will play against Bulls (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
