We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Wonthella where second-best Hawks (15-6) were defeated by third ranked Buccaneers (15-5) 99-89 on Saturday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Buccaneers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hawks' 34. They outrebounded Hawks 40-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Johny Narkle (198-2001) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Shaun Stewart (183-1994, college: Limestone, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Daniel Alexander (206-1991, college: GCU, agency: Haylett Sports) who recorded 25 points and guard Mitchell Clarke (186-1999) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Buccaneers and four Hawks players scored in double figures. Buccaneers moved-up to second place. Loser Hawks dropped to the third position with six games lost. They share it with Mt Gambier. Buccaneers will meet Tigers (#4) in the next round. Hawks will play against Wanneroo and hope to secure a win.
