There was no surprise in Gawler where 8th ranked Central District Lions (4-14) were defeated by second ranked Forestville Eagles (13-5) 107-95 on Saturday. Forestville Eagles forced 21 Central District Lions turnovers. Strangely Central District Lions outrebounded Forestville Eagles 47-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Greg Mays (203-1993, college: Green Bay) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Adam Doyle (176-1991) chipped in 24 points and 7 assists. Forestville Eagles' coach Andrew Simons used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Branden Jenkins (196-1994, college: TxWes) who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and center Ngor Nai (208-2000, college: Baton Rouge) added 11 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Forestville Eagles maintains second place with 13-5 record behind leader Rockingham F. Central District Lions lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Eastern M. and Bellarine S.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
