The game in Melbourne supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Cougars (14-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Vikings (5-16). Cougars smashed Vikings 100-66 on Saturday. Strangely Vikings outrebounded Cougars 50-37 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Gerrard Newby (196-1995, college: Union, KY) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import point guard Anthony Williams (178-1995, college: Clark Atlanta) chipped in 27 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Worth to mention Williams played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Edward Bourke who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and New Zealand guard Dylan Ryburn (185, college: Southeast CC) added 15 points respectively. Vikings' coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Cougars maintains fourth position with 14-7 record, which they share with Willetton T. Vikings lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 16 games lost.
