Regular Season Round 19: Melbourne - NZL Breakers 94-81

Date: February 11, 2024
Leader United delivered the nineteenth victory. This time they beat 6th ranked New Zealand Breakers (12-14) 94-81 in Melbourne. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of New Zealand Breakers. NZL Breakers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized South Sudanese center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr (213-1994, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Ian Clark (190-1991, college: Belmont) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright (180-1995, college: Arizona) answered with 24 points and 5 assists and the former international guard William McDowell-White (196-1998, college: Fresno St.) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for NZL Breakers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melbourne maintains first place with 19-7 record. NZL Breakers at the other side keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Melbourne will play against Illawarra (#4) in Gwynneville in the next round. NZL Breakers will play on the road against Adelaide in Findon and hope to get back on the winning track.
