Regular Season Round 9: Bellarine - Warrnambool 88-62

Date: June 2, 2024
An interesting game for Storm (10-2) which hosted in Bellarine 4th placed Warrnambool (7-5). Second ranked Storm had an easy win 88-62. Bellarine looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Warrnambool's players. It was a good game for American forward Bridgette Rettstatt (188-1998, college: Liberty) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds. Chantelle Hall contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Polish forward Julia Nielacna (185-1999, college: Cal Poly) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Matilda Sewell added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Warrnambool. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Storm have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Bellarine maintains second place with 10-2 record behind leader Wyndham D. Warrnambool at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Bellarine are looking forward to face Pakenham W. (#6) in the next round. Warrnambool will play against Hume City B. in Tullamarine and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
