An interesting game for Eagles (1-0) which hosted in Goodwood their biggest opponent Mavericks (0-1). Top-ranked Eagles had an easy win 70-44. It was a key game for the top position in League. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Mavericks' 20. Eagles forced 21 Mavericks turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for swingman Samantha Simons (188-0, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Brooke Basham contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Eagles' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Mollie McKendrick (183-93, college: Boston U.) replied with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Kedeisha Kartinyeri added 1 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Mavericks. Eagles keep a position of League leader. Loser Mavericks still closes the standings with one game lost. Eagles will face league's second-placed Flames in Marden in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mavericks will play at home against Panthers (#3) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
