Everything could happen in Terrigal at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and one of their biggest challengers Crusaders had identical 0-0 record. But Crusaders were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Narrabeen 79-56 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the second position in League. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles forced 20 Crusaders turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for forward Kimberley Hodge (182-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Holly Wills contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Manly Warringah Sea Eagles players scored in double figures. Sara Matthews replied with 19 points and American guard Jonalyn Wittwer (180-97, college: MSU Denver) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Crusaders. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (1-0) left bottom position moving up to second place in League. Loser Crusaders still closes the standings with one game lost. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles will have a break next round. Crusaders will play at home against North Bears (#9) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
