There was no surprise in Mt Gambier where 12th ranked Ringwood Hawks (1-2) were defeated by eighth ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (3-1) 97-93 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was center Duom Dawam (208) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. American center Nick Marshall (213, college: Union, KY) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Jack Barry (-94) who recorded 32 points and center Adrien Sturt (209-86, college: Snow CC) added 12 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Mount Gambier Pioneers moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Ringwood Hawks keep the twelfth position with two games lost. Mount Gambier Pioneers will face higher ranked Norwood Flames (#3) in Marden in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ringwood Hawks will play at home against Knox Raiders (#8) and hope to win that game.
