Regular Season Round 10: Dandenong R. - Mt Gambier 88-84

Everything went according to plan when eleventh ranked Rangers (2-3) defeated bottom-ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (0-5) in Dandenong 88-84 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Rangers forced 21 Mount Gambier Pioneers turnovers. Mount Gambier Pioneers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American forward Emilee Harmon (189, college: Ohio St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Dallas Loughbridge contributed with 19 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Rangers players scored in double figures. Guard Jasmin Howe (173-95, college: NW Missouri St.) replied with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Sherrie Calleia added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Mount Gambier Pioneers. Despite that victory Rangers went down to thirteenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Mount Gambier Pioneers still closes the standings with five games lost. Rangers will face higher ranked Spectres (#8) in East Burwood in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mount Gambier Pioneers will play on the road against Tigers (#5) in Melbourne and hope to get finally their first victory.
