There was a minor upset when their close opponent Slammers (0-3) were smashed by twelfth ranked Senators (1-1) in Perth 111-32 on Saturday. Senators held Slammers to an opponent 21.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Senators forced 33 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 46-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Slammers' players. Quite impressive performance for forward Mackenzie Clinch-Hoycard (190-98, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Guard Stacey Barr (173-92, college: Idaho) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Senators players scored in double figures. Imogen Van Laere replied with 5 points and 7 rebounds and Zaya Black added 9 points in the effort for Slammers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Senators left bottom position moving up to eighth place in League. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with three games lost. Senators will have a break next round. Slammers will play at home against the league's second-placed Flames (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
