Everything could happen in Loganholme at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Thunder and bottom-ranked Roar had identical 0-0 record. This time Thunder used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Brisbane 95-37 on Saturday night. Thunder held Roar to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Thunder forced 27 Roar turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Mikhaela Cann who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals. Forward Ashley Taia (183, college: Indiana St.) chipped in 35 points (!!!). At the other side the best for losing team was New Zealand power forward Ashleigh Kelman-Poto (186-91, college: ECU) who recorded 11 points and 9 rebounds and guard Annaliese Watkinson (175, college: Mt.St.Mary's) added 11 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Thunder (1-0) left bottom position moving up to third place in League. Loser Roar still closes the standings with one game lost. Thunder will have a break next round. Roar will play at home against Pirates (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
