Not a big story in a game in Melbourne where 5th ranked Thunder (4-3) was outplayed by first ranked Jets (8-1) 80-52 on Sunday. Jets made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Jets had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was New Zealand forward Jacinta Beckley (185-95, college: Seattle) who scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Bianca Dufelmeier (171-92, college: UAB) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Beckley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Ellen Kett (170-94, college: Simon Fraser) who recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Bianca Babic (183-94, college: Murray St.) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jets maintains first position in League with 8-1 record. Loser Thunder keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Jets will face Cavaliers (#3) in Casey in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Thunder will play on the road against Devils in Werribee and hope to win that game.
