No shocking result in a game in Northbridge where first ranked Wanneroo (7-1) defeated 7th ranked Redbacks (5-5) 84-71 on Friday. Wanneroo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kayla Steindl (187-89, college: Gonzaga) who scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import power forward Amber Land (188-85, college: EMU) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Makailah Dyer (175, college: N.Dakota) produced 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Maddison Allen (190-93, college: Santa Clara) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Redbacks players scored in double figures. Wanneroo maintains first position in League with 7-1 record. Loser Redbacks keep the seventh place with five games lost. Wanneroo will face league's second-placed Flames in Rockingham in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Redbacks will play on the road against Hawks (#8) in Floreat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
