There was no surprise in Townsville where 9th ranked Rip City (3-3) was crushed by third ranked Flames (6-2) 75-53 on Friday. Flames held Rip City to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was guard Micaela Cocks (174-86, college: Oregon) who scored 25 points. Guard Stephanie Reid (168-96, college: Buffalo) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Carlie Smith produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and guard Liisa Ups (175-95, college: Buffalo) added 8 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Flames went down to fourth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Rip City dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
