Regular Season Round 10: Rams - Sharks 81-92

There was no surprise in Christchurch where 6th ranked Rams (7-8) were defeated by second ranked Sharks (11-5) 92-81 on Friday. Strangely Rams outrebounded Sharks 47-27 including a 25-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Alonzo Burton (193-93) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists during the contest. Sharks' coach Rob Beveridge allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward EJ Singler (198-90, college: Oregon) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Jack Salt (208-96, college: Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sharks maintains second position with 11-5 record behind leader Saints, which they share with Hawks. Loser Rams keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Sharks will meet at home Nuggets (#5) in the next round. Rams will play against Giants and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
